Last week R was in beautiful Santa Barbara for work and I was stuck holding down the K household. While I really missed him, there is one upside to having the house to yourself when you are a part of a married/co-habitating couple: secret single behavior!!!
My personal secret single behavior consists of:
1.) Eating non-meals for meals. Last week I had a chocolate banana peanut butter protein smoothie for dinner two nights in a row. Another time for lunch I made myself an open-faced fried egg and cheese sandwich, on a whim. That whole "making a meal with an entree and side dish that has meat, veggies, etc" goes completely out the window.
small but satisfying lunch ala Mrs Type A
2.) Watching movies/shows my husband won't watch with me. I think this is a given for most women. I tend to choose chick flicks I've seen one too many times (i.e. Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing, Ghost, etc.) or period era movies (i.e. Elizabeth, Shakespeare in Love, etc.) that R isn't a fan of. Last week I dvr'ed and watch Eat.Pray.Love. for the third or fourth time.
3.) Going to bed early. I like to go to sleep earlier than R. He likes to watch tv for a good while before bed, whereas I'd rather just skip it, read, and go to sleep. Last week I climbed into bed by 10 most nights with no shame.
4.) Reading magazines. Last week I got the new Elle Decor and Dwell in the mail and happily spent some me-time curled up on the couch with them.
5.) A night cap. R and I regularly have a beer after the gym, but this week I picked up the fixins for a proper old fashioned - whiskey, orange, and sugar cubes, and combined it with the lemon bitters we have and R's whiskey stones for a legit cocktail to sip on and indulge in!
What is your secret single behavior??
