Good morning!
This weekend R and I had a birthday party to attend, so I decided to brave the curling iron and give myself a curly home blowout.
I'm NOT great with curling irons and usually have problems making the curls go the right direction {this makes me sound really stupid, but something about wrapping it so that it goes away from the face is remarkably hard for me}. I watched a couple of tutorials on this site, from a fellow Raleigh blogger, and thought I'd give it a whirl. Here are the results:
I blew my hair dry in sections, taking care to point the nozzle of the hair dryer downwards and take my time. My hair is thick, has lots of body, and is naturally frizzy, so this takes time for me to do {hence why I simply blow it dry as fast as possible and flat iron it on normal days}. Then I clipped my hair up halfway and used a big barreled curling iron (not sure exact size... maybe 1.5 or 2 inches) to curl sections away from my face. I repeated this until I did my whole head, and then sprayed it with hairspray.
Not too difficult and I LOVED the result. I slept on my hair and wore it down for brunch the next morning and thought it still looked pretty good.
Are you adept at the at-home blow out? Or are you more of a novice like me?

Does your curling iron have a clamp on it? Jimmy got me a curling wand (no clamp) for Christmas and it changed my life. It's so much easier/faster to do the curls! Yours look good either way.
ReplyDeleteMine does have a clamp. My sister has a wand and agrees that it's much easier. For some reason I feel like there's more of a chance I'd burn myself with the wand...but maybe that's totally irrational?
DeleteI actually find that I burn myself less. I think because I don't have to twist my wrist/arm into weird positions to avoid the clamp sticking up. Mine also came with a heat-resistant glove.
DeleteLooks great!! My hair is too long to blow dry...I don't even own a blow dryer hahah
ReplyDeleteYes you are right about enterwat, 1st impression is the last.
