Good morning, all!
Lately I've been thinking about the little things that add up to make you an adult. I've felt like I was an adult for a long time (anyone else have those screaming fights with your parents at 18?-- "you can't tell me what to do... I'm an adult!!!") but not until recently have I really noticed some changes in myself that have made me feel like I am ... sigh... a "grown up."
For example:
- Filling up the gas tank in my car. I never did this because I didn't want to put out $50 at one time. I would just stubbornly put in $15-20 dollars and have to get gas twice as often because $50 felt like soooo much money.
- Buying furniture that cost more than $200 and will last more than 2-3 years.
- Not wanting to go out on a friday night because I'm tired from working a full day. Related: getting tired and going to bed between 10 and 11 every night.
- Being around people who are 22 or 23. This is especially disheartening.
- Actually saving money and designating it for things like a house, retirement (!), furniture, etc.
- Hiring a college student as my dog walker (this was really weird, let me tell you!!)
- Consulting with another person about how to spend money/what you are allowed to buy (although this is more about being married)
- Waking up "early" on the weekends, even when you don't have to work and want to sleep in
Do you feel like you're a "grown up"? What makes you think so?
hahah I totally agree with the gas part...and the being around people who are 22-23...I just got a new coworker who is 23 and I was like "awww to be 23 again" hahah
ReplyDeleteI totally agree on all parts, though I don't have a dog walker...hmmm something to look into.
