1/3/12

2011 and 2012 goals!

Hey all!

Sorry for my absence.  The holidays were busy and exciting and then unfortunately I spilled a whole mug of coffee on my mac yesterday.  Yikes.  But, I'm back!

I love New Year's because it gives me a chance to reflect on the past year and to get a "fresh start" as well.  In 2011, my goals were:

1) Run a 5k
2) Pass the Bar Exam
3) Find a job as a lawyer
4) Eat more veggies
5.) Learn to cook new things
6.) Control my messiness

I am proud to say that I am 5/6!

1) Run a 5k:  I ran a 3 mile race in March with friends for St. Patty's day.  Then I ran a 5k for MS over Thanksgiving weekend and another 5k for Arthritis the day of my 25th birthday.  I am so excited and proud that I was able to do this!

2.) Pass the bar exam:  As you know, I passed the bar on the first try.  This was a huge relief and I'm still very proud of that milestone.

3.) Find a job as a lawyer: I got a job offer in March and began work as a state appellate judge's law clerk.  I LOVE my job and will be staying on for next year as well.

4.) Eat more veggies:  This year I fell in love with bell peppers.  I still put them on everything.  I also discovered a love for jalapenos and red onion.

5.) Learn to cook new things:  Although I think I could've done more, I learned to cook several new things this year.  I've perfected how to cook a chicken breast and know its done without cutting into it.  I learned to make awesome chili.  I cooked a beef tenderloin and a brisket for the first time.  Not too bad!

6.) Control my messiness:  This one was, to be honest, a fail.  I've blogged several times about how R is the neat one in our house.  I'm ashamed to say I still do not do 50% of the chores and that he is more than pulling his weight.  I need to work on this for real in 2012.

And now... my goals for 2012!

1)  Take as many weekend trips as budget/jobs allow (whether it be 2 or 10! whatever is doable!)
2)  Run an 8k and continue to complete more races
3)  Do my share of the housework... for real this time
4)  Continually strive for excellence at my job

That's it!  I feel pretty good with where I'm at, but I want to focus this year on being a good partner to my husband, being a good employee, continuing to run and enjoying these married-with-no-kids-yet years!

Cheers to 2012!

  1. Great goals!
We share the chores but I would like to step up more in the kitchen and learn to cook more.
